Triad Christian Academy was organized and brought into existence by what many believe is the oldest African-American Pentecostal denomination in the United States, The United Holy Church of America, Inc.
The United Holy Church of America had its beginnings in the year of 1886, outside of Raleigh, North Carolina in the village town of Method. The denomination's connectional territory and missionary reach now span the geographical regions of the United States past its territorial boundaries and into such places as Liberia and Ghana, West Africa, Bermuda, Barbados, St. Lucia, St.Kitts, Haiti and the Philippines.
Christian education and training for ministry have always been greatly emphasized in the Church since its inception. The United Christian Institute was chartered in 1953, although it existed long before a charter was established. The United Christian Institute was later renamed The United Christian College. The birth of Triad Christian Academy, formerly The United Holy Church Christian Academy, represents the denomination's effort to provide a quality education, in a Christian setting, to the greater community at large. Triad Christian Academy opened in 1997 as a Christian school serving the primary grades. The Academy has continually evolved in response to the community's needs and is now functioning as a comprehensive early childhood center and school age child care facility. The foundational goal of quality service to children within a Christian setting remains firmly in place.
This historic effort began under the leadership of the Right Reverend Odell McCollum, the Right Reverend Elijah Williams and the Right Reverend Kenneth Robinson who were the president, vice president and second vice president, respectively. The Right Reverend Jesse Jones served as the first Chairman of the Board of Directors. He served as the liaison to the Board of Directors for The United Holy Church of America, Inc. Dr. Milton Lewis became the Chairman of the Board of Directors at that time. In August 2006 Elder Greg Hargrave became Chairman of the Board of Directors and The Right Reverend Elroy Lewis became liaison bishop to the Board of Directors. The Right Reverend Hargrave and Right Reverend Lewis currently serve in their same position.
The leaders of The United Holy Church and their constituency feel fortunate and blessed to be a part of this exciting venture. The Church family believes that their faith in God will provide success for the Academy as we move forward into the 21st century and beyond. It is with a great sense of care and the example of Christ likeness that we seek to inspire both the heart and mind of every child entrusted in our care.
